Step2.com Truck Order Checklist

Here at Step2.com, it’s our job to provide you with all the information you will need as you prepare for the arrival of your Step2.com order. Some of our products such as larger climbers, playhouses, swing sets and most combos ship via truck. Products that are shipped by a truck require special handling, over and above a typical delivery. To prepare you for the product(s) you’re looking to order, we’ve created a checklist that covers the information to be aware of during the shipment and delivery process.

Checklist for truck orders:

Provide the best telephone phone number where the recipient of the order can be reached to schedule the delivery appointment.

Someone over the age of 18 will need to be present to sign for the delivery.

Make sure the recipient’s street can accommodate a the large delivery vehicle that the order is being delivered on.

Ensure the recipient of this truck shipment understands that the order is curbside delivery.

Please note the estimated delivery date of the shipment is to the destination terminal.

Why does Step2.com need the best daytime telephone number for the recipient?
The carrier cannot deliver the shipment without a scheduled appointment. The recipient of the order will be contacted by the carrier approximately 24 hours in advance to schedule a delivery window.

Why does someone over the age of 18 need to be present during the time of delivery?
A signature is required during the time of delivery, which is why someone needs to be present to accept the order and inspect they have received all of the boxes.

Why is it important to know if the truck will fit on the recipient’s street?
Due to the size of the truck making the delivery, the driver needs to be able to turn around or pull straight through. If you are not certain about access for the carrier, please contact us at 1-866-429-5200 (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 11:00 am, 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm EST). Below is a picture of the type of truck that will be delivering the shipment.

What is curbside delivery?
This means the truck for large shipments will arrive at the curb. It is the recipient’s responsibility to move the item(s) into the home or backyard once it has been removed from the truck at curbside. It is our experience that most drivers will help unload the truck; however, they are not required to do so. Please be prepared to help unload your order from the truck when it arrives, arranging for assistance in advance, if necessary. For an additional fee that would be billed to the credit card separately from the original order, the carrier may be able to bring the shipment from the curb to as close as possible to the desired delivery location. This additional service, known as home side assistance will be offered as an option when the recipient receives a call from the carrier to set up the delivery appointment.

Why is the estimated delivery date to the destination terminal and not the home of the recipient?
Since the carrier will call the recipient of the order to schedule the delivery window, the estimated delivery date is to the destination terminal closest to the recipient. When on the carrier’s website checking the delivery date, the same rules apply.
