An unknown author once said, “Sisters are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.” This quote describes the remarkable bond between sisters, Hannah and Natalie perfectly. When five-year-old Natalie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia two years ago, her seven-year-old sister, Hannah was right by her side as her support system.
Natalie is currently finishing up her chemotherapy treatment and the cancer is in remission. To remind Natalie how much she is loved and supported, Hannah decided to donate her hair to Wigs for Kids at the Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation’s “Shave for a Cure” in New York. She wanted to inspire kids with cancer to be brave as they battle this illness, just like Natalie was. Even when Hannah and Natalie’s parents were worried about what classmates would say about their daughter’s shaved head, Hannah didn’t care because she has always believed she is beautiful just the way she is.

Needless to say, her classmates thought she was a hero and applauded Hannah when she arrived at school the next day!
This Thoughtful Thursday, we also applaud Hannah and Natalie for their dedication to one another and generously supporting Wigs for Kids.
