We're Families Too: Holiday Traditions

Since its inception in 2013, our We’re Mom’s Too series has been one of our favorite ways to show you, our customer and an extension of our Step2 family, that we too are moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, and uncles just like you!

This year, we shared our stories of raising a tween, proudly watching our daughter graduate high school, and the time we had to break the news about the Easter Bunny. We divulged our love for slobbery kisses, admitted we never want to grow up, and even planned a wedding!

As 2015 comes to a close, we’d like to share with you our family’s holiday traditions, and invite you to share yours with us!

Family Traditions

“Our Christmas Tradition started when my Mom used to make all 5 of us kids new Pajamas to wear Christmas Eve Night. Now, we have 2 adult Sons and Daughter-In-Laws, 2 Adopted Sons and one Grandson and I have continued the tradition. Of course, I BUY them though!” – Tammy, Sales Department

Family Traditions 2

“Our holiday tradition is to do something different each year. Last year, we enjoyed a family outing to purchase Toys for Tots. This year, we’ve decided to create a Gingerbread themed Christmas Tree. One thing that is a constant is that my son and his friends will always ask for hot cocoa – which they ultimately won’t drink.” – Tiffany, Human Resources

ChristmasPJs

“Every year on Christmas Eve we give our kids a new pair of pajamas. The kids leave homemade cookies out for Santa and before they are tucked into bed, we read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to them.” – Tonia, eCommerce

“For the past 5 years, we cut down our Christmas tree the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We go to the same tree farm. It’s been amazing watching the changes over the past 5 years, from just my husband and I to now a family of 4. Our daughter helped us pick out the tree this year while our son just hung out playing in the grass. It will be fun to see what changes next year brings!” – Ashley, eCommerce

“Our Hanukkah tradition is having our families over our house on the first night to eat latkes and light the candles on the menorah. We also all exchange presents and take an annual family picture with our cats, Phil and Lil.” – Nicole, eCommerce

Tday

“My whole family gathers to celebrate Christmas with lots of food, laughter and bingo! Yes, bingo.. with stocking stuffers as prizes!” – Matthew, Digital Marketing Specialist

Holiday Traditions

“We try to incorporate our son’s love of Superheroes into understanding more about the meaning of the celebration of Christmas. This year, after explaining that we are celebrating Jesus’ birthday, and that he is the son of God, and that Jesus and God watch over and protect us, he said, “Oh, so they really are Superheroes?!?”. Exactly little man. Exactly.” – Tena, eCommerce
