Tim Harris, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a Special Olympics participant and the first person with Down Syndrome restaurant owner. Tim had the dream of owning his own restaurant since he was fourteen years old. Now at the age of 27, his dream has come true. Tim’s Place is a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and hugs. Each person that dines at Tim’s Place receives a hug from Tim because he believes that hugs make everyone feel better.
This Thoughtful Thursday is dedicated to Tim Harris and his parents for making sure that his dream came true no matter what the obstacle. Tim’s parents hope that more people with Down syndrome will be inspired by this story and open their own restaurant.
