If you found $20 laying on the ground what would you do with it? Eight-year-old Myles Eckert found $20 lying on the ground at a Cracker Barrel parking lot and began thinking of all the ways he could spend it. Myles wanted to use the money to buy a video game but instead he gave it to someone that reminded him of his dad.
Myles and his family entered Cracker Barrel around the same time Lieutenant Colonel Frank Daily and his family did for lunch. When Myles saw the solider he decided he wanted to give the money to him and his family to show his appreciation for Frank’s service to this country. Myles took the money and wrapped it in a note that read: “Dear Soldier — my dad was a soldier. He’s in heaven now. I found this 20 dollars in the parking lot when we got here. We like to pay it forward in my family. It’s your lucky day! Thank you for your service. Myles Eckert, a gold star kid.”
When Myles was a few weeks old, his dad Army Sergeant Andy Eckert was killed in Iraq. Although Myles’ dad is no longer here on Earth, we hope he is watching over his son and the amazing kindness he has in his heart.
This Thoughtful Thursday we salute Myles for paying it forward with his generous donation.
